No Japan will not have access to this but how would US immigration have reached that conclusion if you did not tell them? I know that visa forms ask to reveal this information Is there a requirement to list prostitution on a visa application like listing a criminal record, or is it asking for previous employment? Also, I wasn't under the assumption that Brits need to fill out a visa form anyway if they come just for vacation. Exception would be working holiday visa, which you have not stated.
There is nothing wrong with being economical with the truth at immigration but you have to be prepared to answer a few questions about your fibs or else the whole thing collapses like a house of cards and you get denied entry. I would suggest that when you go to Japan you choose a more mundane occupation if asked about your previous employment. Not only nothing wrong.. Back in my younger days when I was still learning, I'd volunteer information, thinking that I was being "helpful" and "co-operative".
It never got me into trouble, but it usually only resulted in the immigration officer asking even more questions to follow-up on what I volunteered. But avoid telling even small lies; they can be very good at picking it up.
