A veteran sex worker has exposed the murky industry of thieving clients, overseas competitors and political crackdowns threatening her career. Battling men who pinch her knickers and sex toys, fierce competition and uncertain work conditions, Rose - a 57 year-old prostitute - has to work hard to earn a living. With two decades of sex work under her belt, the mother-of-two has watched the industry change dramatically over the years.
Based in Townsville, far north Queensland, Rose told Daily Mail Australia work depended on the projects opening or closing around the town where a recent closure saw her lose half her weekly earnings. Battling men who pinch her knickers and sex toys, fierce competition and uncertain work conditions, Rose - a 57 year-old prostitute pictured - has to work hard to earn a living.
Rose, who was once married to a Comanchero gang member in Sydney, said she now averages two or three jobs daily and has to keep a tight eye on clients. You have to keep a close eye on them. Exotic sex workers from foreign countries also make securing a client a challenge as some clients enjoy something 'cheap and nasty'. The year-old pictured said most of her clients are younger than her but her youngest was 16 and she had to ask him for his ID because he 'looked so bloody young'.
With two decades of sex work under her belt, the mother-of-two pictured has watched the industry change dramatically over the years, including the laws of the sex world. With parts of the sex industry illegal under Criminal Code , including independent prostitutes being unable to do joint bookings, use drivers or even message colleagues about their location, Rose said it leaves them in possible danger.
The mother-of-two, who previously worked in the Sydney music industry, said because of the current legislation, she has to take extra precaution in securing her safety. The year-old said she always leaves a sticky note with her location written on it when she lives her house so police can find her if trouble arose.
