Sonamasuri is an aromatic and lightweight Indian rice variety. It is typically used in idlis, fried rice, and the South Indian sweet dish “Pongal.” Being unhulled and unpolished makes Sonamasuri brown rice – or any brown rice – a healthier alternative to white rice as it retains more fibre and nutrients.
Soak the rice for a few hours before cooking it to obtain the perfect chewy texture.
