Masad is a native rice to region of Kolhapur – Satara. The locals grew this rice to eat Doodh-Bhat (Milk & Rice) which was a part of their daily diet. Masad is now rarely found in the region due to increasing commercial agriculture, we are happy to find the seeds of this rice and regrow the rice which is on verge of extinction.
Tip: Due to its Fat and round structure which goes well with milk & milk products one can try their hands on risotto, we did that and loved it!!
